Preply is a global platform for professional teachers who are eager to get Math tutoring jobs and teach online. You can work at any time that is comfortable for you, define your own rate per hour, be flexible to your own syllabus and choose whom you would like to teach. Our online tutoring platform makes finding students and earning additional revenue simple! Teach Math online and help people to solve their Math problems!
Though most of our teachers do indeed have degrees, this is by no means a requirement for our teachers. Indeed, some of the areas with highest demand in Math are college admission exams (AP, SAT, ACT, and IB Math), which could be taught by advanced high school students.
This comes as an advantage, as Math examinations are some of the most in-demand classes among our Math tutors, ranging across the spectrum from ACT, SAT, AP, IB, GRE, GED, to GCSE exams. Other popular classes include Trigonometry, Pre-calculus, Calculus as well as Math for Preschoolers, Math for kids, and elementary math. If possible, we urge our new tutors to cater their classes to this demand by specializing; this allows new teachers to target student demand, as well as to draw from their own areas of interest.
In the international context there are many tutors who teach Math through Preply full time. Indeed, we can see that Math is one of our most in-demand subjects globally. In the US context, however, our tutors tend to work fewer hours on the platform. Considering our internal statistics we can see that 81% of our US-based Math tutors work 0-10 hours weekly with Preply, 17% work 10-20 hours weekly with Preply, and the remaining 2% work 20-30 weekly with Preply.
At Preply, our tutors enjoy the flexibility to work as many or few hours with us as they choose. There is no quota of hours that we require our teachers to work weekly, monthly, or yearly. Likewise, our teachers themselves set their own hours. We find that this freedom of our online math teaching jobs particularly suitable for those managing many commitments, including university students, freelance workers, and those working on personal projects.
The monthly earnings of our teachers is based, of course, on rates set by a particular teacher, as well as the number of hours worked in that month. Drawing from our internal business statistics, we can see that those US-based Math teachers working 0-10 hours weekly with Preply earn an average of $187 monthly, those working between 10-20 hours weekly earn an average of $700 monthly, and those working 20-30 weekly earn an average of $754 monthly.
Learning to teach online effectively is a challenge faced by all of our new tutors. We recommend that new tutors focus on effective classroom time management, set student expectations early, and make full use of the abundance of teaching resources available online. Likewise, we offer a range of resources to get our teachers feeling ready for their first classes. This ranges from webinars and teacher trainings to sample classroom resources.

"The Thinkster tutor we work with is amazing. She has grown to learn what works well for our son and what doesn't and is great at giving him positive reinforcement. It has really been a great situation for us because the platform caters to our schedule and allows us the flexibility so we can get his practice in where ever we are, and he feels challenged but not overwhelmed."
"I am so grateful we found Thinkster. It almost overnight changed what was happening in our house with math, homework, and having a sense of confidence. We didn't want our fourth grader to hate school. We wanted her to love school and love learning. When we found Thinkster, it was like the clouds parted, the sun showed, and our child was happily doing math. That is huge for us after years of struggling. Thinkster over-delivers in every arena."
"We needed to find new ways to challenge our son because his math curriculum was just not enough. Thinkster stands out because of the online accessibility and the flexibility of the program. We don't have to drive 40 minutes to a location so he can study math. Thinkster gives us more time for our family because our son can explore the training whenever it fits his schedule."

Thinkster tutors either have a Math teaching background or Math major/minor in college. You need to have a solid foundation of basic math and can teach math concepts on the spot. We want to see that you can think flexibly and non-linearly to solve problems - just like our Thinkster students learn to do!
We look for individuals that enjoy math and can relate math problems to real-world situations. You need a strong knowledge of the Common Core and Singapore Math strategies. You should also enjoy working with technology and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
Our part-time tutors dedicate at least 20 hours a week to Thinkster. This is divided between tutoring sessions (typically 15 hours a week), learning plan modifications, and parent communications. We also require that you commit to staying with the company for at least six months.
The whiteboard tutoring session hours are after school hours or on weekends. Typically, the sessions run between 3 pm and 10 pm EST and between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm EST on weekends. You can complete grading, assignments, and reporting at any time of the day.
