In the wise words of John Gardner, "Every nightmare hints at the secret
reserves of imaginative power in the human mind. What the stalled or
not-yet-started writer needs is some magic for getting in touch with
himself, some key."

I'm an aspiring fiction writer, and I am always looking for new ideas
for stories. Currently, I am in the beginning stages of writing a new
story called "The Silencer Angel," but nonetheless I am constantly
wondering what stories may be on the horizon, and I am trying to find
new places to look for inspiration. Personally, I can hardly ever
remember any of my own dreams once I wake up, but maybe you've got a
memorable, disturbing nightmare that you would be willing to tell me
about. If it really intrigues me, then it may just give me the
inspiration I need to cook up a brand new plot.

So, what do you say? Got any nightmares to tell me about?

So the other night (and this might not be the sort of nightmare
you're looking for) I dreamt that myself and some friends went to
Iraq... for some reason. Lets say to be journalists. We landed and we
were excited and on edge. How exactly did war work, anyway? It was
supposed to be technically safe for us- but who knows. So we went
through this brick wall secret passageway to get to our house. We
were underground for a while and it was all very safe feeling, until
we got to the house- a big brokendown two family-type house with some
boarded up windows and no door. One of the windows was old fashioned
and had six small panes of glass. It was strange because it was longer
horizontally than vertically. All of the sudden someone on the
outside started taking out the panes of glass. I was scared. Rudy (yes
rudy was in my dream) said that the government was taking all the
glass of that sort because it was useful- we shouldn't be alarmed. I
was alarmed. I remember feeling very sad that I hadn't told my parents
I was going to Iraq, because now I would probably die without them
knowing- how awful would it be to hear, out of the blue, "hey your
daughter died- yeah, she was in Iraq"... Anyway that was the most
nightmareish moment because I felt like I looked my imminent demise
right in the face and experienced a BIG wave of emotion.

So I go and look down the secret passage that we came through, and
sure enough- Iraqis with guns underneath the house. DAMN.

We get taken somewhere and Angela gets shot (but she's ok!) and it
turns out to be a good thing because they send us right home. I feel
like a wuss for only staying 3 days but those 3 days were enough for
me.

Also the best nightmare I ever had =

I was watching the news and they're reporting the a cryogenic facility
burnt to the ground. All over the lawn in front of the building are
scattered body parts that are thawing. When they thaw they start to
twitch. In the background a crazy old lady (old fashioned rags, etc)
is collecting the twitching body parts. I follow her to her house
which has a miniature version of a giant gnarled tree in front. Not
bonsai miniature, but just a little taller than myself- with a
massively thick trunk. I walk by the tree into her house- which is
creepy and smelly, but mostly normal. Until I look in the silverware
drawer to see that instead of knives and spoons there are hands and
feet! Still twitching. THE END.
