Celebrating Gerardo and Thelmy's Bday With A Fundraiser & Great Food--Sunday, Sept.7th!

Greetings People,

September has arrived and for those of us who were born on this month, it is a special month for us. LA CAN staff and friend of mine, Thelmy, whose birthday is on Sept.7 will be celebrating her 36 years while I will be turning 35 on Sept. 11. Since LA CAN has a very special place in our hearts and this being the 15th anniversary of the amazing work that LA CAN has been doing in advocating for the rights of homeless people in Skid Row and those on the margins of society, we have decided the best way to celebrate our birthdays is by recognizing LA CAN's beautiful work. 

Currently LA CAN is in a capital campaign to raise funds to transform our current location on 6th street into a Justice and Wellness Center.

 

Therefore, we are asking if you will kindly join us on Sunday, September 7th from 4-9pm for a day of celebration, food, entertainment, great company and to come together and raise funds for our capital campaign. In lieu of gifts, we kindly suggest a $25 donation. For those unable to make $25, any amount will go along ways in moving LA CAN's Capital Campaign forward.

Here is a video to show one of the actions LA CAN took to be in solidarity with our brothers and sisters who were being harassed for feeding the homeless. A city ordinance had threatened to ban public feeding but with the support of LA CAN and the hundreds of people who voice their opposition to that crazy ordinance, that ordinance died and we declared a victory for the people and for the Greater West Hollywood volunteers.
