Sending out an FYI that a whole section of the fence behind Unit #23 that backs up to our neighbor's condo pool area has fallen to the ground.

Hello Marilyn, and HOA board,

I know that there are plans to partially replace the fence, but what is the target date to start on it?

Is the driveway resurfacing completely off the table now?

I was wondering if either Marilyn or someone from our board could update the community perhaps once a month on where we are on implementing the plans we talked about at the board meeting?

Thank you

Alyce,

That would be a great idea!  I also wanted to mention that a small ourtside vent cover seems to be missing from the left side of the front door of unit #26.  Marilyn, could you check on this for me?

Thanks,
Phyllis

Just to let everyone know……

The board and I have been in the process of determining the best process for the fencing that needs to be done.  We have bids for replacing the fence between Los  Indios and the Groves; the continuation of fencing by building 12 where there are fences shared with the adjacent duplexes and the repair of the fencing along the Bayou in the back of the property.  I have approached The Groves about sharing the expense but they probably will not; there is nothing we can legally do to require them to pay for half……just expect them to be good neighbors.   I have contacted the duplex’s Property Manager and he says his owner  WILL probably share the expense of that shared fence. Bottom line, that fence MUST be replaced because as we all know it is rotten through and through.

At this time, the pot holes are going to have mix put in them and the larger resurfacing project has been put on hold.

Thank you for the update Marilyn!  At his point, the fence is more important because folks from other properties can easily walk right in to ours.  This may not always be safe.

Hi,

Was just wondering why there are 3 speed bumps being installed in our parking lot.

At a board meeting several years ago, we all discussed installing speed bumps, but decided that since most of the residents are owners that we would be responsible neighbors and keep our driving speed to a reasonable level.  At that time, people were against adding speed bumps, as they tend to damage vehicles over time.

It seems that only the residents in the back cove would be exposed to 3 speed bumps to exit or enter our area.  My car is an older model and could be replaced or repaired.  But how about the people on fixed incomes and nice cars that live in my cove?

Could we have a say as to the speed bumps and/or the number of them being installed.

BTW:  Thanks for getting this done, we appreciate all that the board members have put so much effort into making our complex a very nice place to live.

...then too, I was informed over the weekend, that we are not to put cardboard in the recycle bin.  As it is not an approved paper product for recycling per the company that picks up our recycled items.   Please pass the word on to all your neighbors!

Please advise of the above questions,
Carrie.....

I agree that there are one to many speed bumps. Although I know of at least one owner that takes off at a bit of speed and does not always slow down  when there others walking in the street, with a dog at night, especially in that really dark area.  Perhaps it can be cut down to 2?  They are pretty close together.

We should have been asked about the speed bumps.  We certainly don't need 3.
One speed bump is enough to slow anyone down.  I hope 2 can be removed before the paving is completed.

I agree too. Three does seem excessive in that area.

maybe I missed it but when did the speed bump installation project actually start? Who were the decision makers, Who funds this improvement?

Just to log in...I don't have a problem with the speed bumps at all.  There are a few toddlers in our complex and unfortunately some drivers tend to go too fast to take kids and dog walkers into consideration.

The speed bumps are for the safety of pedestrians. Especially important since we don't have sidewalks.

I'm assuming that traffic engineers have done studies to ensure that drivers going over a speed bump at a controlled speed won't damage their car.

Thanks to the board in getting the re- surfacing done at a competitive price.  I know this is going to add value to the property.

I have never seen anyone speed in our parking lot.  I do not know why we need speed bumps.  I agree with Dave.  Who made this decision?  Since it affects all the homeowners, shouldn't we be included in the decision making?

Everyone

Sorry to have 'opened a can of worms'.    Yes, I am a bit biased, as I think speed bumps have the look and feel of an apartment complex; to me it tends to devalue the look of a property.  (I do realize that is probably just my opinion and my opinion alone.)

Just think there could have been some consideration as to a less drastic and/or economical measure to solving this problem.  One idea would have been to install speed limit signs and/or watch for children and animals messaging signs. If that didn’t work, try something else, yes maybe speed bumps would be that next step.

The fact is that the driveways are traffic areas.  Do we need to collectively decide on who has priority in the driveways?   I would hope that common courtesy and common sense would prevail in that answer.   As I would imagine there have been times when every one of us had sped down the driveways to get where we needed to go.  That is no excuse, but the reality is what the reality is and sometimes every one of us has been in a hurry.

Regarding the mention about dog walking, I would imagine all dog lovers keep their dogs on a tight leash while walking in the driveways.  As it would be a shame if an animal were to be hit just because it was on a long leash and was able to dart from behind an obstruction into oncoming traffic.   Then too, we all probably know about the little toddler that lives by the pool.  She is at that walking/running stage, so we all need to be extra careful driving around the pool area.

At this point in time, the decision has been made and the work has been done.  I do apologize for voicing my opinion on this topic as it seems to have caused more issues, like the number of speed bumps, dog walking, and so on.

I do agree with the last person, namely to be heard, we all need to attend the HOA annual board meeting, which is being held next Tuesday.
