Hello there,

I am a programmer but newbie in robotics. I want to get started on my own hexacopter and looking to connect with people who can provide some initial guidance. I want to build on top of Arduino based AutoPilots available in 3dRobotics website. I kind of know few main things i need to get started. But i would very much appreciate if someone can help me with list of things( hardware/software) i need to have in place to get started.

Also what are the roles of Telemetry and GPS in Copters ? I understand GPS would be used for tracking the flight path. What about Telemetry kit ? I assume it is used to send commands over the radio.

If someone who built his own Quad or Hexa copter has any suggestions for parts, dos/donts, please share.

Thanks

Toby

Hi,
The GPS is used for autopilot features such as altitude hold waypoint navigation etc.. the telemetry is used to send commands to the board. And to see flight data such as altitude, airspeed
