Greetings!

Troop 22 and Troop 122 have planned a food drive to support our local food bank, LA Cares on Saturday, May 3, 10 am - 3 pm! All local Scouts are encouraged to participate.

Great!! Where can I sign up?

All local Scouting units in LA/WR are invited to support this effort by:

Collecting donations at local grocery stores: You will hand out flyers to shoppers and ask them to consider buying one or more of the items on the list. This is the most important part of the food drive, because it targets the food and supplies that are needed most.

Transporting collected items to a central location (Community Building) for sorting:  Approximately once per hour, you'll circulate to LA/WR grocery stores to pick up donations and bring them to the sorting point.

Receiving and sorting the donations at the Community Building: Under the leadership of LA Cares, you will help unload and organize all of the donations. For this role, we're looking for older Scouts who can handle heavier items and stay flexible and focused as the workload varies.

Service hours
Talk to your Scout leader about how service hours from a food drive can help with rank advancement and merit badges.

Tell me again where I can sign up?

Thank you for helping address the needs of our Los Alamos County neighbors!

Parents/Scouters, please add their names to the comments so we can ensure compliance with Scouting safety policies. If you're unsure about the coverage needed, please ask your unit leader!

For general questions about the food drive and volunteer roles, contact Becky Chamberlin at 505-412-5578 (evenings and weekends), or at rmc...@gmail.com

Pack 22 families,

Here’s an important message from the organizers of Saturday’s food drive. Please help out if you can!

We still have a critical role to fill for the food drive. The LA Smith's store does not have a team to collect donations from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm. This is right in the middle of the drive and peak shopping times, and we need some Scouts there!

There are still opportunities for Scouts to help at other times and locations, but this is our most important gap! Will you please reach out and see if there are families who have not signed up yet? I know there are many other activities this  Saturday that families are juggling.
