Greetings LAGS Members and Friends!
This year’s Earth Treasure Show is coming up soon! This fun event
takes place the first weekend in December, so this year, the Earth
Treasure Show is Saturday December 3 and Sunday December 4.
The show offers a tremendous amount of fun activities for the whole
family, including a silent auction, jewelry, gem and mineral sales,
kids' crafts, educational displays, geode sales and sawing, mineral
identification, delicious food, and much more! It's a great place to
get holiday gifts.
Your help is needed to make this a great annual event, and we share
our heartfelt thanks with those that have already volunteered to
help! We are in particular need of volunteers to take two-hour shifts
selling geodes and assisting at the kids' crafts table. If you can
help, or would like to hear about other volunteer needs, please
contact Barbara Carlos at
rca...@losalamos.com and refer to Earth
Treasure Show Volunteering in the subject line.
All proceeds raised at the Earth Treasure Show benefit our scholarship
fund, which makes it possible for New Mexico college students to
attend the annual New Mexico Geological Society Fall Field
Conference. The Earth Treasure Show also offers a convenient way to
renew your LAGS membership at the low, low price of $20/family/year.
We will also be selling tickets for our January dinner banquet and
special guest lecture. The 2012 banquet speaker will be Dr. Fraser
Goff, who will deliver a fun presentation on the brand new geologic
map of the Valles caldera.
Have a great Thanksgiving!
