To use a document from Singapore in the Netherlands, you must have it legalised with an apostille by the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL). The apostille is a simplified form of legalisation which allows you to use your documents in the Netherlands.

Legalisation does not prove the authenticity of a document or the truthfulness of its content. A municipality in the Netherlands, the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) or another authority may decide to verify these things. Legalisation of your document simply means that your document bears the correct signature.

Organisations have different requirements for how recently your document must have been issued and legalised. For more information, contact the organisation in the Netherlands requesting the document.

Alternatively, it can also be used to create verifiable documents using digital signatures, forgoing the need to pay for Ethereum transactions. Verifiable documents (or verifiable credentials) are tamper-resistant and provide proof of who issued them. They are the electronic equivalent of physical documents that we possess today - such as passports, driving licenses, qualifications, awards and so forth.

Technically, OpenAttestation is a decentralised database with no single point of failure, such as a central database going down. Verifications also take place on the client browser without the need for backend integration.

OpenAttestation has been listed in the Digital Public Goods registry by the Digital Public Goods Alliance (DPGA). DPGA is a multistakeholder initiative supported by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and UNICEF.

OpenCerts was the first project that leveraged the OpenAttestation framework to provide a convenient way for educational institutions to issue academic certificates, and for students to share with prospective employers.

The private sector has also applied the OpenAttestation framework internationally, for purposes such as the issuance of academic certificates and a pilot project that helps farmers deliver sustainable cashmere.

Easily scan, edit, save and/or convert to editible format of the scanned documents. The software optically recognises barcodes, characters and blank pages in scanned documents to separate them into different folders. Accredited veterinarians can submit health certificates for USDA endorsement electronically through VEHCS (Veterinary Export Health Certification System).

However, this country requires USDA to ink-sign and emboss the health certificate. This means the final, endorsed health certificate that travels with the animal(s) must be mailed back.

IMPORTANT: The endorsed health certificate (paper, not electronic) must accompany the shipment. The endorsed health certificate will be returned by mail (a pre-paid, pre-addressed return label must be provided during certificate submission).

Dogs and cats must be identified with a microchip that is ISO compliant (11784 and 11785). If your dog/cat is implanted with a microchip which is not ISO compliant, you must provide a reader which is able to read the microchip at the point of entry into Singapore.

Ornamental birds are intended for purposes other than consumption, and include pet birds and birds for breeding. Examples of ornamental birds are guinea fowls, partridges, parrots, parakeets, budgerigars, cockatoos, doves, peafowls, swans and finches.

Additional permits are required to import, export or re-export endangered ornamental birds listed under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). Examples of endangered ornamental birds include macaws, cockatoos and all except 4 species of parrots*.

*Certain parrots are listed as highly endangered species under CITES Appendix I. This listing means that commercial import, export or re-export of the bird is not allowed unless the bird is bred in captivity in operations or farms that are registered with the CITES or used for non-commercial purposes. The 4 non-CITES listed parrot species are the Peach-Faced lovebird (Agapornis roseicollis), Budgerigar (Melopsittacus undulatus), Cockatiel (Nymphicus hollandicus) and Ring-necked parakeet (Psittacula krameri).

All small mammals have to be placed under quarantine for a period of 2 weeks on arrival in Singapore. Please prepare proof of ownership if you have owned your small mammal for more than 6 months and attach it to your import license application.

* Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom (UK), but will continue to follow European Union (EU) requirements even though the UK is no longer part of the EU.

** Norway and Switzerland are not part of the EU but have adopted EU legislation for import of most species of live animals.

The Singapore Free Trade Agreement (SGFTA) went into effect on January 1, 2004, and provided for complete duty phase out by January 1, 2013. As an alternate to the Certification of Origin template, a free-form supporting statement can be used by Singaporean producers and exporters, and US importers, when attesting that their goods meet the requirements of the Singapore FTA.
