The thing I like about this is that there is very little work to be done in Keyshot, you can essentially import your model, drop in an HDRI, maybe change the lighting scheme and you have a rock-solid render in a matter of seconds.

The only thing to look out for here is that your formZ model should not have shared materials for objects that are to be different textures. That is, don't set the same plain white texture for a brick wall and grass if you are not going to use different textures in Keyshot.

I have been using Keyshot to render all of my formZ models for almost a year with great results. I export as an FBX with similar setting to what you are showing. If you have two objects with the same material, you can unlink them in keyshot allowing you to apply different materials to them. I have not however figured out how to change different surfaces of the same object to differing materials if I have not already mapped them in FormZ. I do not have the pro version, so perhaps you can in that version.

Unfortunately all of my work that i've done using formZ + Keyshot has been for concept work at the office which is all confidential. I have some work that was modeled in Rhino and then rendered in Keyshot, but I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to post that

They have a demo version available that I would highly recommend trying if you have the time. If I can, I'll try to find some old formZ models that aren't work related and render them out and post here

I am using Keyshot to render all my FormZ. I need to use the older version of FormZ because the newer one does not export the maps correctly. (9.0.6 works). I export as an FBX with facetted and triangulate all facetted on and it works great. I have communicated with support, and if you use the new version of FormZ, you can't even import into FormZ with out the maps getting messed up. They say it is on their list of things to fix. My first inquiry into this was over a year ago.

2. select the part - export to .sat - the import it back in and you get the brep. Then select the faces until you get to smartpaint them. The smartpainting makes it easier in keyshot, as you just have to swap those colors with materials.

In the KeyShot Options on the Add-in Ribbon Bar, there is a setting "Use single Shell forPart" and Link Parts with Same Material". You can toggle those off to help in this case. If you need to access each face with a different material (or orientation), turn both options off. If the faces on a part are all the same material, but you want different materials per part, turn off the Link parts option.

Helpful here is using the selection filter down the bottom right, which (along with the Shift Key) can help to quickly select many faces. Another tip, use the EyeDropper tool. When using this, if you select down to the Face level **before selecting the tool** then it will paste onto faces instead of onto parts, so you can quickly copy paste colors/styles around to many faces.

Then before going to KeyShot, make sure "Link Parts with Same Material" is checked, and KeyShot will recognize everything that is the same color, as the same material. Doing it this way should allow you to accomplish what you want without needing to export or workaround the KeyShot integration. The added benefit here is if you change your model, you can then just click "Update KeyShot" and your new geometry will be copied across while keeping all your texture work in KeyShot.

Oh I see what you're saying, I'm not use to seeing decimals written with commas. In Australia we would write that as 1152mm and 1.152mm. Here 1152 and 1,152 are the exact same number, the latter is just written in a more formal way.

Keyshot is great, the issue is the fusion360 to keyshot app has had the rounded tessalation issue for many many years now. Promises to fix it have gone nowhere. The only way you can be sure your model is imported properly is to not use this app and import any number of cad formats to keyshot directly.

Newer versions of substance are not creating the .sp folder and the ts folders inside of it anymore, so I am not able to use the material importer option in keyshot it just creates the textures on the root folder , tried deleting my settings , uninstalling and different substance versions: 8.1 , 8.2 and 8.3 . with both keyshot 9+ and the keyshot output templates, people are even commenting about this on the official susbtance to keyshot tutorial ( =oUZxkS6Y9A4) and no one has posted a solution. I usually have to render things with may parts, so is a pain to manually input every single texture node for all the parts.

From your screenshots, we can see that the maps exported aren't the ones from the Keyshot preset, but the native Document channels + Normal + AO and we can also see the preset setup here.

thanks for your assistance, sadly the problem still persist , tried the export preset and stills just gives me just the textures . tried also opening substance painter as administrator but it seems substance is just not creating the folders .

Thanks! this worked perfectly. This is on me, i was choosing my output on the output templates tab, thinking that it was the way to set my configuration. As the old version on the tutorial did not have this tab.
