I've left simulation work and am looking for recent papers/publications regarding military and tactical deployments.
OMNET++ is not going to take us anywhere.

Some encouraging finds by blessing of "Google baba".
I don't know if you can derive anything from this existing solution, though it is not purely MANET -> http://www.elektrobit.com/what_we_deliver/wireless/customer_segment/defense_authorities
