I understand that your computer came with Windows 8, and you would like to downgrade it to Windows 7. I saw that this model can come with Windows 7,when I checked the specifications. Therefore we do have drivers listed. I would download the drivers to a USB. drive. Once you have accomplished that, boot to your windows 7 cd and install normally. Here is a Microsoft document on *How to perform a clean installation of Windows"click here. Once you have Windows 7 installed, then update the drivers from the USB drive. Then I would suggest you download the HP Support Assistant, and let it look for any errors or any more updates. HP Support Assistant click here. For your benefit I am also sending documentation on "Downloading or Updating Software and Drivers for HP Computers" click here. I hope this helps.

This is not one of those you can fix over the phone unless there is a tech on the other end. Every time I have seen this it is one of two things. Either this is a bad hard drive (most likely ) or the hard drive has been disconnected. If you have other models of this unit and you can trust the end user to do so you might consider shipping them another hard drive that you setup with a new install in another laptop of the same model. All they would have to do is unscrew the old and put in the new. You could even take pictures while removing it after imaging to send to show them how to do the same. It is doubtful that the update broke this system as this points to the system not even seeing the hard drive. Usually in the case of an update breaking the system it would just fail to properly boot windows.

Can you give us the output of this? As the nature of the error you are receiving usually points to the hardware not being able to locate the hard drive. Are you sure the test is actually able to run and really is running against that hard drive and not either another hard drive or giving a false positive due to it not even knowing the hard drive exists to test?

11. Turn on your laptop normally and check to see if the issue has been resolved; if not, open your laptop, remove the WWAN card and then do a normal system startup. Then shut down your laptop and reinstall the WWAN card and start windows again.
