*But* there is one thing that is preventing me to use it on a daily basis as my default image viewer: I can't open multiple instances/windows of it. If I have to see two or three pictures side by side, I can't do that with geeqie because every time I select an image it is displayed in the currently opened window.
Removing -r from /usr/share/applications/geeqie.desktop does the trick, thank you very much!
In the meanwhile I discovered another imageviewer that suits my needs very well, Viewnior. Strongly reccomended!
Both my work computer and home computer have geeqie installed, running 1.1-3. I recently attempted to view a .dng file on my work computer and it briefly opened and then closed. I've been able to do so before, and my home computer is able to view them just fine. I just installed f-spot (googled around for other .dng-capable viewers), and can successfully open a .dng file with it. I can open them as usual with darktable as well; so I don't think it's something inherently missing regarding dealing with digital negatives, or at least that's the theory.
Found this bug, which solved my problem. I actually found it the first time I was searching around but assumed it didn't apply since I took the gist of it to be geeqie looking for a non-existing file... but I was directly opening a file known to exist. The second time around, mention of the .config directly struck me, so I deleted /.config/geeqie/* just to try something, and could open the file successfully again.
I've been searching the net quite some time but didn't find the way to refresh the folder that is open. The GUI just takes 'R' and all is fine. The same behaviour does not appear not be available through any call from a bash script.I was trying to call the running instance of geeqie with -r and -l:/path/to/folder option like
I need to make batch conversion for my RAW Canon CR2 pictures to JPEG format.I can use ufraw, but aprox. half pictures needs different adjustment (automatic OR Standard).
BUT when I viewing RAW files in my favourite application geeqie all pictures are displayed absolutely perfect!
On left side of this image it shows the raw image opened with geeqie and on right hand side same raw image opened with rawtherapee. Geeqie showed me exactly the same way as I see in the DSLR preview after capturing the image but rawtherapee shows me brightened picture. Can you please help what's happening here and how can see the same image as I see in preview of camera and geeqie?
In the specific case of geeqie it is not applying a base curve itself, it is using the embedded preview image that your camera writes into the RAW file - which explains why it looks exactly the same as the preview on your DSLR.
On Ubuntu, the command from Listing 1 imports everything you need. Download the archive with the source code of the current Geeqie version from GitHub [4]. Unpack it on your hard disk, change to the directory created in a terminal window, and call the commands from Listing 2 there. The first command prepares for the build and warns you if a dependency is missing. In this case, use the package manager to install the required software, and then call ./autogen.sh again. Finally download the time zone data [5] and copy the data to the /usr/local/lib/geeqie/ directory.
When I open geeqie for the first time, say in workspace 1, everything goes well. Now, if I quit geeqie on workspace 1, go to another workspace, and launch another geeqie instance, the window does not appear on my current workspace, but on the workspace 1.
