Dear Friends of Urban Sprouts,

As our school garden season officially begins today, the first day of school, I write to you for the last time as ED. I have decided that it is time for me, Urban Sprouts' founding Executive Director, to move on. Urban Sprouts is ready for a new phase of growth, and so am I.

So many of you have supported me personally as I grew Urban Sprouts from a volunteer effort into a team and an organization, and your warm encouragement has meant so much. With Urban Sprouts, I've been able to do work I love with students, teachers, and colleagues who mean the world to me. This year, as a new mom, I've found that it doesn't feel right for me to split my passion and energy between Urban Sprouts and my baby daughter. It has been a difficult decision, but my daughter needs me more! And the time feels right.

I couldn't be more confident and proud to leave Urban Sprouts in the hands of our current staff and board members. Our program team has taken Urban Sprouts' curriculum to a new level, bringing a superior educational experience and the highest level of caring and respect to the students and families we serve. Our new and long-time Advisory Board members bring many years of experience in nonprofit and business management as well as commitment to our community. We have faced challenges in the current economic climate, and we have made painful choices to scale back some of our programming for this year. But, our creative and resourceful team is already finding new opportunities in the midst of this time of need.

I am so excited to see where this team takes Urban Sprouts next.

We are searching for a new Executive Director. Please help us to spread this announcement far and wide.

And I will still be around for the near future! I'll be helping to get the new ED settled and then supporting fundraising efforts for the rest of the school year. So you will be hearing from me again soon!

Thank you for your sincere and heartfelt support, past and present. Urban Sprouts is so lucky to have this amazing community of supporters!

Warmly,
Abby

We are drowning in information, while starving for wisdom. The world henceforth will be run by synthesizers, people able to put together the right information at the right time, think critically about it, and make important choices wisely. E. O. Wilson
