Title: DevOps Engineer
Location: Newport Beach, CA (Locals Preferred)
Duration: 6 month contract with possible extension
Interview Type: Telephonic and then F2F
Each candidate needs to have experience with:
- Chef
- Ruby
- Linux
- Shell scripting
- Weblogic
Primary Purpose:
Responsible for implementing and supporting open system solutions in support of business initiatives. This role has a significant focus on transitioning and automating duties currently performed by application development and systems administration teams.
Core responsibilities include:
- Take over ownership of manual operational and support tasks from team members
- Automation of application deployment and environment build activities utilizing Chef or similar toolset
- Ensure availability and stability of our division's online applications. Incident response and resolution, includes off-hours on-call rotation responsibilities
- Provide configuration and administration support to application developers during application testing and deployments
- Manage installation, configuration and ongoing maintenance (updates, patching) of web infrastructure software components in a multi-tier, virtualized environment
- Perform routine analysis of web and application logs to proactively detect and correct problems
- Configure and optimize systems monitoring
- Maintain documentation to reflect application infrastructure and network topology
- Support penetration tests and vulnerability assessments against our websites
- Provide recommendations to optimize system architecture and maximize application performance
- Support of Disaster Recovery environments and recurring testing
Required Competencies
- Build/deploy automation utilizing Chef and Ruby programming or similar tool set
- Strong Linux experience including shell scripting for administration tasks
- Experience with Apache and Weblogic installation, configuration and administration on Linux systems
- Experience in a systems administrator role supporting highly available web applications
- Experience managing SOA-related infrastructure (preferably using Oracle Service Bus)
- Knowledge of Web Services and Services Oriented Architecture is a must
- Experience troubleshooting J2EE application infrastructure in a complex multi-tier platform
- Familiarity with relational databases (Oracle and IBM DB2), basic query and connectivity skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Desired Competencies
- Experience with monitoring tools (Sitescope, xMatters)
- Experience with job scheduling tools (Control-M)
- Experience administering Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or similar web content management system
- Experience administering Appian or other similar BPM platforms
