How to make copssh service dependent on other services ?

  • Dependent on software or configuration issues on your PC, copssh service may sometimes not start properly. The problem can be a service, a device helper, anti virus, firewall and so on, interferencing operations of the copssh service.

A possible solution is to delay the service startup until the problem services are started successfully. You can use the procedure below to make copssh service dependent on MyService:

**UPDATED** Copssh Control Panel introduced in version 4 has solved that problem. Previous Copssh versions and copsshadm command line tool still have that problem.

Hiding the service account from welcome screen is an another convenient feature for users of XP/Vista. The copssh uninstaller is now more user friendly as it gives a warning about the consequences of uninstalling copssh with user created symbolic links/shortcuts intact.

Then I tried adding permissions on a user-by-user basis for each users home\username folder. However, these permission were not allowed by windows because of the above deny rule i created at the home directory was being inherited and over-riding my allow rule.

Being not a UNIX wizard (thus: sorry for all the wrong or missing terms in this question), I am using unison to synchronize file system branches. unison uses an ssl tunnel via ssh. Thats why I have copssh running on the server (XP) and also on the client (to have a good ssh client).

The machine that fails has a fresh install of copssh. All machines are running XP. I tried shutting down all local firewalls, and have been looking around in openssl and ssh config files, but I am totally lost in finding the cause. I don't even find a useful log, or something. The event protocol of Windows' on the server does not contain any entry during the failed connect process.

If you don't then that means that, for some reason, the SSH service has not started and you should check copssh's logs. The logs might not be in the event viewer, you should also check on the program's directories.

There is very little information on installing and configuring of the copSSH server which BNA use for configurations transfer through SCP. This document also does not contain enough details about how copssh and scp works. Appreciate if someone from BMC shed some light on it.

Copssh is an ssh server for windows operating systems, this application is based on Openssh and cygwin. OpenSSH is a free solution for SSH server. And Cygwin is a Linux-like environment for Windows, cygwin1.dll is giving the functionality of Linux. By implementing copssh we can access our windows servers in a secure way.

The next window is the Service Account window which informs you thatOpenSSH server will be set up as a windows service with the logon credentialsthat will be displayed for you. You can change the service account and/or itspassword, if you wish. When you click on the Install button theinstallation process will begin. At the successful completion of the installation, if you leave the "Run Copssh Control Panel" checkbox checkedwhen you click on Finish at the completion window where you closethe setup wizard, you can then configure the software to allow SSH loginsfor accounts on the system through the COPSSH Control Panel.

Hello Experts,

I'm currently monitoring a windows server with SSH method, copssh was installed on the server as shown in the following link: =j-P8V1V4bMI, however when generating a script monitor (Command '' tasklist 'windows) which the .txt file contains the command' 'tasklist sort / r / 65 '' which is required to sort the processes with greater use of memory to lower memory usage, the command is not recognized as such, it was necessary to change the '' / '' by '' - '' and the last parameter ''/ 65'' was not recognized neither with the change of ''/'' by ''-''. I've noticed that this monitor windows script also accepts linux commands, I wonder if there is any way to maybe add a package to copssh software, so that accepts all Windows commands such as in a cmd window?

Thanks for any suggestions,

Your sort most likely fails because your default path (within bash) points to the Unix version of the sort command.
You may try something like to following to make your commands operate in the windows CMD environment:

/cygdrive/d/web/www is the default home directory of the particular user. Please note that by default CopSSH assigns home directory as /home/username , but you can amend it to meet your requirements. CopSSH does not support Windows style paths so you have to translate your windows paths. For example /cygdrive/d/web/www actually matches D:\web\www folder. Based on this you can easily convert any windows path into path usable by CopSSH.

I usually back up to a windows XP SSH server. I use COPSSH running under Windows XP because to me it is the easiest to setup and it's free. It is basically a cygwin ssh service that has been made easier to install.

thanks
i solved with "Windows Services for UNIX Version 3.5" and server NFS.

But I discovered that clonezilla is not a valid product, so me and a lot of people from problems with the windows restore from an image.
"disk read error press ctrl + alt + delete" and the like. :(
