Chrome supports a number of different release channels. We use these channels toslowly roll out updates to users, starting with our close to daily Canarychannel builds, all the way up to our Stable channel releases that happen every6 weeks roughly.

The release channels for chrome range from the most stable and tested (Stablechannel) to completely untested and likely least stable (Canary channel). Youcan run all channels alongside all others, as they do not share profiles withone another. This allows you to play with our latest code, while still keeping atested version of Chrome around.

Note: Early access releases (Canary builds and Dev and Beta channels) willbe only partly translated into languages other than English. Text related to newfeatures may not get translated into all languages until the feature is releasedin the Stable channel.

Before you switch, you should make a backup of your profile (bookmarks, mostvisited pages, history, cookies, etc). If you ever want to switch back to a morestable channel, your updated profile data might not be compatible with the olderversion.Make a copy of the User Data\Default directory (for example, copy it to'Default Backup' in the same location). The location depends on your operatingsystem:

Officially, Chromium does not have a stable release. The official developers do not release it to end users. So it is continually in development. Google Chrome is the stable release, but is not open-source.

I want to use the Chromium source to build a stable browser version. But I do not understand how to determine stable chromium source versions because it is released several times to day, and releases have no stable or intermediate marks.By stable version, I mean the version that is tested by some QA group and is marked as ready for production.

The daily builds that you are referring to are canary builds which are for development purposes only. If you want to check out a stable build from the Chromium repo then you need to find out the stable version.

On -involved/download-chromium, it is written "you can get a build of Chromium 44.x which should mostly match the stable release" and "sometimes you may have to decrement the commit number until you find one".

On -all-old-stable-versions/issues/2, I read "You cannot install a stable Chromium version downloaded from chromium-browser-snapshots because there are absolutely no Chromium stable versions there." and "It is recommended to compile Chromium yourself to have a similar stable version... or find third-parties builds.".

Chrome Browser also maintains every other milestone branch for four additional weeks by backporting important security fixes to create an extended stable channel, where a new milestone is shipped every eight weeks. During the first four weeks of this milestone, both stable and extended stable are shipped identical releases; see the channel lifecycle to learn more. The extended stable channel is only available to enterprises on the Windows and Mac platforms, and can be enabled via enterprise policies. Biweekly refreshes are shipped to extended stable.

While extended stable is only shipped to Windows and Mac, security fixes that are relevant to any Chrome Browser platforms will be landed on the extended stable branch for use by embedders. It's important to note that while the team will make an effort to backport all important security fixes to extended stable, complex and risky changes as well as larger features that improve security (e.g. Site Isolation) may not be viable to backport and will only be available on the stable channel; as such, using the stable channel and stable branches is recommended for any team where security is a primary concern.

Shortly after branch, the new milestone is shipped to the beta channel for the first time. A new build is shipped to beta each following week for three additional weeks so that the release spends four weeks total in the beta channel.

Stable cut is the day that our stable release candidate build will be generated. This build is then shipped to beta to gather user feedback for one week. Any changes that land after stable cut may or may not be included in the stable release, and thus all stable blocking issues must be fixed by stable cut.

After four weeks in the beta channel, the new milestone is shipped to the stable channel for the first time. The rollout is staged over time so that any early issues that arise can be addressed before they reach all users. The new release generally reaches all users within one to two weeks unless major issues arise that cannot be addressed quickly.

The stable channel is refreshed every week, and the extended stable channels is refreshed every two weeks. These refreshes typically contain important security fixes as well as any urgent regression fixes that may be available at the discretion of the release team.

While a milestone branch is active, branch infrastructure (e.g. branch CQ) will be kept active, and important security fixes will be considered for backport. An endpoint which describes currently active branches and their respective channels is under consideration, and if built will be available ahead of launch of the new extended stable channel and the four week release cycle.

As a Chrome administrator, you can choose when to roll out Chrome browser updates to your users by placing them on a release channel. Chrome browser provides 5 channels: Stable, Extended stable, Beta, Dev, and Canary.

Users on the Extended stable channel get feature updates less frequently, but still receive security fixes. If you manually update to new releases of Chrome and want a slower release cadence, you might prefer the Extended stable channel.

This question is specific to an end of life Ubuntu release. These are no longer supported and are therefore off-topic here. To upgrade, see: How to install software or upgrade from old unsupported release?

I don't have Lucid at hand, so I tested the previous in a 11.10 live CD that I still had lingering around. Unfortunately, installation failed because of unmet dependencies. Before diving even deeper into resolving unmet dependencies, I want to know whether this way of getting the latest chromium-browser is viable.

If there is any chance that chromium-browser will install, it will be using the packages from Precise, since those have the lowest dependencies (in terms of version number). However, there's a good chance it won't work, since Google increased their minimum requirements a while ago for Chrome (and, by extension, Chromium) to Ubuntu 12.04.

Add @playwright/browser-chromium, @playwright/browser-firefox and @playwright/browser-webkit as a dependency. These packages download respective browsers during npm install. Make sure you keep the version of all playwright packages in sync:

I was encountering the exact same problem until I updated the 2nd list, and then when I ran sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get install chromium-browser I was finally able to download the latest version.

It has finally happened: Microsoft releases the first stable build of Microsoft Edge Chromium. It was not officially announced yet, also, it can be just a test flight. Anyway, the stable Edge Chromium branch is available with the build 77.0.235.9.

The stable channel of Edge Chromium was first discovered on July 30, 2019. At that moment, the installer was just a stub, which was not able to deliver anything to the end user. This time, it installs version 77.0.235.9.

The release is built on the Chromium engine version 77, which is a version ahead of the current stable Google Chrome browser. The actual pre-release versions of Edge Chromium at the moment of this writing are as follows:

It is a good idea to wait for the official announcement for this release, which should come with a change log for this version, include installation instructions, and general recommendations for users.

Google Chrome is stable and offers a great browsing experience for its users. It automatically reports errors. It also supports media code and Flash. Google Chrome basically has everything that a normal user would need. The disadvantage of Google Chrome is quite not visible to a regular user.

This work deals with the development and optimization of the sample pretreatment and consequent electrophoretic analysis of two modern plating baths containing chromium(III) and either citric acid or oxalic acid. Some model mixtures containing known amounts of components of industrial baths have been prepared to simulate simplified bath matrices. Prior to analysis, a sample pretreatment consisting of the addition of some agents that could release acid from the stable chromium complex was tested. Determination of organic anions was accomplished by indirect UV detection. The best results were achieved by precipitation of chromium(III) hydroxide. The content of oxalate and citrate in real samples was calculated as 96.5% (SD 2.3%) and 97.3% (SD 0.8%), respectively, of the declared amount. Very good robustness of the method and satisfactory repeatability of migration time and peak area were obtained. This simple inexpensive method is suitable for routine determination of citric and oxalic acid in chromium(III)-based plating baths.

Any Portage packages, upstream included, can be marked as stable or unstable for any architecture. You don't have to know anything more about this detail unless you need to upgrade a package to an unstable version. However, this happens somewhat frequently. Perhaps a feature you need is only available in the absolute latest version of a package, but that version has not been marked stable for x86, yet. If you do need to upgrade to an unstable version check the appendix entry below.

Figure out which package or packages you want to upgrade, using their full "category/package" name (e.g. sys-apps/dbus). Decide whether you want to upgrade them to the latest stable or unstable versions. Generally, your first choice should be to upgrade packages to the latest stable upstream version.
