Hello everyone,
I recently found several requests to join on the Google Groups page that the Longmont Polymer Clay Guild maintains. I am adding those names to our first meeting email of the year to see if there is still interest in possible joining the Guild among this new group. We meet once a month on the first Sunday from Noon to 4PM at the Creative Treasure Shop at 1801 Hover Street. We use a small classroom with a small oven for baking and a long table. If we add more members, there will be a need for a larger classroom so we will have to make some changes. It will be growing pains which are not new as we have had to find other places before. So, it would be a good idea to come to one of the next meetings to see if you would like to join us. I know we would like to have you!
We usually have some sort of program, even if it is just "I want to try this" type of thing, bring your stuff and "try it with me". We may have a set program of a specific thing or ask members to present something for all of us to do. There may be things to do or printed directions etc. or just bring these things if you have them. It is pretty informal unless you want it to be more formal. Tammi occasionally presents a sculpture of an animal to do in the form of an ornament.
It is fun to do the projects and you learn a technique or color combos or other things when you try new stuff of just a new way of making something. We all learn from each other because nobody knows everything!
Now to what may happen at the next meeting:

If you are so inclined, bring one thing to show everyone. We will get to know each other through our work. I make a lot of earrings and other jewelry. Kat makes journals, Tammi makes sculptures, Pam and Jackie go south for the winter, so you will not meet them yet. Whitney is just starting with the group, but she has done a lot on her own. We have a lot of fun and like to laugh.

I have something I need to work on. Someone has a pair of my earrings and wants a pendant to match...that will be fun to figure out, so I will want to work on that and ask for input from others.

So, Bring some clay of any color, a few tools, something to work on. I use a glass sheet. A ceramic tile to bake on or whatever you like to use.
