Hi everyone,
The Guild will meet on June7, 2026 from Noon to 4 PM at Creative Treasures. 1811 N. Hover St. Longmont, CO.
I have recently been trying to make a faux Spiny Oyster Turquoise slab with little success. I used a couple of tutorials on You tube but didn't look right. So, I did my own. Or I should say I have already done it and didn't know it. I will bring examples and show you how if you are interested.  If you are not interested, bring something to work on or bring your latest project.
We will have available the items still in the guild library. There are books, magazines, and CDs. Whatever is not taken will be turned over to the shop to sell. There is some really good stuff there including Carol Duvall old shows.

Spiny oyster turquoise
is a composite, naturally vibrant gemstone used heavily in Southwestern and Native American jewelry,
It is made by fusing crushed or sliced spiny oyster shells (often orange, red, or purple) with turquoise and a copper matrix to bind them.
Here are some real ones:

Here are my beads:
You will need clay in the following colors:
Turquoise (blue, green or any color you like).
Orange, red or purple clay any hue you like. I used some sunset pearl, I think.
pearl or white clay
Translucent clay
Copper colored leaf or gold if you like
We will chop and combine to make a sheet.

I hope to see you there next Sunday. Let us know if you are coming.
Bette
