Good morning studious tigers!!
Welcome back to our 8th graders who went to Yosemite. Great job on
behaving and exploring new places. The feedback from the Yosemite
Institute is that you were the best most cooperative and kind group
they have had. Thank you for helping make our school’s reputation
positive. That means when you 7th and 6th graders get to go in the
future, the staff at Yosemite will be looking forward to our school
coming.
And a huge THANK YOU to Ms. Patterson. Ms. Patterson coordinated
this trip. She got funding from BPEF, organized the transportation,
lodging, staff and activities. Each of you who went should go
personally and tell Ms. Patterson thank you. Ms, Patterson could have
just gone on her own, without all the organizing. But instead she
spent hours planning so you all could have this experience with your
friends and make new friends. Tell Ms. Patterson how much you
appreciate all her work.
Also, thank the other staff who attended. Staff got up super early
and gave up an entire Sunday as well as Monday Tuesday and Wednesday.
They do not get paid for all those extra hours. They went to get to
know you better and to allow you the opportunity to experience
Yosemite. Go up to each of our chaperones and tell them a big THANKS!
All dance students should contact Ms. Gilder concerning the
performance on Friday evening. There will be a special rehearsal on
Thursday afternoon. That is today.
Are you secretly a poet? Are you working on a novel? Do you love when
your teachers give you the freedom to write creatively? If so, then
you should think about signing up for Young Writer's Camp. This camp
runs from June 25th-July 13th from 9 to noon here in Berkeley. It's a
place to let your imagination run wild. Look up Bay Area Young
Writer's Camps 2012 on the internet or see Ms. Faur in Room 214 for
more info.
May is the last month of the school year for checking out library
books. The final due date for all library books will be May 29.
Please remember to return all library books on or before the due date.
Library Book Clubs will resume regular meetings next week.
6th Grade Book Club meets at lunch in the library on Tuesdays and
Thursdays.
The Comic Book Club meets again on May 15 in the library at 7th and
8th grade lunch.
Today’s healthy and delicious lunch is quesadillas or chicken or
edamame and sweet potato fries. I have never heard of those, but they
sound good. Try it. Or bring a healthy lunch from home. Do not walk
around trying to beg from someone. Lunch is out at lunch time. Go
get yourself some. There is no reason for you to be hungry at school,
especially during lunch time.
Good luck to the track team who runs in Martinez today. If you went
to Yosemite, consider that a warm up. This is your last meet before
finals. Push hard to the finish. Your coach was in Yosemite, and he
is still going to the meet!
A flute is lost. The name “Adrianna Hernandez’ is written on blue
tape on the box. If you find this flute, please bring it to the front
office.
