Good morning everyone!!
This month’s theme is HIGHER EDUCATION!
CINCO DE MAYO!
Notice how many celebrations we are having to honor Latino heritage
this month. We celebrate the diversity of our school. Our Latino
students bring many gifts. Appreciate all the cultural diversity we
enjoy here at Longfellow Middle School. Make sure you are positive
and encouraging in everything you say.
The cinco de mayo lunch time celebration is planned for Friday.
We will have Aztec dancers during both lunches and a lotteria game
during the 7 & 8th grade lunch.
The assembly with our Envisions dancers is now on Monday after
testing, which is after lunch in the afternoon this coming Monday.
And also for cinco de mayo, tonight we celebrate!!
5 pm is a light dinner.
6-7:30 we will see our very own dancers and EDP drama students
perform.
You must come with a parent or guardian.
No unaccompanied minors. Sorry.
TESTING:
Also, testing is next week. Students, please check your testing
schedule so you know where you are supposed to be. Monday morning you
should report to your testing location, not advisory.
And remember, our school rocks. And we want to keep on rocking. so,
get a lot of sleep for the rest of the week, and over the weekend.
Eat a healthy breakfast every morning next week so you can do your
best. A healthy breakfast could include protein, carbohydrates and
fruit. You could make yourself a scrambled egg on toast, and some
fruit.
Bring an AR book to testing in case you finish testing early. You
can catch up or get ahead on your AR goal. But make sure you do your
best on the test, and check your work. Each question counts. Every
question you get right will help your score and make our school look
better. Try to not be lazy. Do your best to stay focused.
Also, the testing schedule is on the front wall of the office. Check
out where you are to test. And later in the week, each classroom will
have the students testing in there posted on the door. Thank you Mr.
Chris for organizing this huge task. Every one tell Mr. Chris how
much we appreciate what he does.
LUNCH
Today’s lunch is beef stew or pulled turkey. Don’t judge a book by
it’s title. Try this lunch. Eating a healthy lunch is good for you.
We always have our salad bar and fresh fruit and milk too.
Our 8th graders visited CAL. They learned that college students need
to scrape their plates after they eat, and then put their plates where
they belong to wash.
We are now doing the same thing in our cafeteria. We have plastic
plates. We re use them. So, after you eat, scrape your plate into
the garbage and put your plastic plate in the bin
SCHOOL ATTIRE:
As the weather gets warmer, let's remember our rules about appropriate
school attire. We are here to learn, and you must dress like that
too. Shorts must be longer than your fingertips when held at your
side. If you have arms that are longer than other students, please
think about this when you chose your clothes in the morning. Your
shorts must be past your fingertips.
LIBRARY
Please be mindful to return your library books on or before the due
date.
Yosemite students:
Remember to work on gathering all the things you need for the trip.
We leave next sunday! You need to be able to walk a short distance
with all your luggage, so make sure to pack carefully. One suitcase
or duffle bag with your sleeping bag attached, and a regular school
backpack is about all you will be allowed to carry on the train.
Yosemite provides pillows, towels and blankets, so don't bring those.
Get your sturdy shoes and practice wearing them now!
AVID applications are due this Friday! If you were invited to apply
for AVID for next year, please turn in your applications to Mr. Chris
by this Friday. Don't miss out on an opportunity to improve your
future--take the step to advance your life via your individual
determination!
SPORTS:
The boys baseball team will meet at 3:30 to go to the Wheelhouse
batting cages.
Good luck to the track team in the Albany/King track meet!
