Hey Mitchell,
I'm in Sugar Hill. The coaching I do for riders covers just about anything.
From switching sponsors with out burning bridges, how to present yourself
to companies & hadle all types of weird situations. You name it and I'll
let you know if I can help or not.
What's on your mind?

From the article:
*How does a rider get sponsored?*
It’s really quite a simple strategy. Before a rider contacts any company
they need put together their experience, discipline(s), achievements, and
something about who they are and what makes them tick, together like a
small resume. Adding in a few key links to things they have been part of
or a video, the video doesn’t have to be all skating but a balance of who
they are and what they are capable of. Most importantly you shouldn’t show
themselves doing the same 2 or three tricks over and over.
Then, out of the companies they love, pick the one they feel fits them
best, don’t mass email companies. Make sure the correspondence is
professional, use spell check and don’t email them constantly; the request
is a business proposal, it takes time to research a potential rider.
The most difficult part is staying stoked if you don’t get sponsored.
Remember, every company has their own protocol, sponsorship budget and so
on. It’s business, if the company doesn’t stick to their business plan they
won’t be around to offer product in the future. If you’re in sponsor
negotiations keep quiet, don’t go all over town talking, let the company
use the info in press releases, advertising, whatever.
Finally, above all else, know what you’re getting into. Getting sponsored
is a lot of work, staying sponsored takes even more work. So make sure
you’re willing and able to deliver before doing anything.
And NO, I will not “sponer” you…
Have you done all of this yet? And no, there are no companies in ATL that
can sponsor you. Jati is here, but I think they have all the sponsored
riders they can handle.
