Hello guys, I had an interesting discussion at the last Android meetup
about projects which just tend to get pushed back. We've had a few
that have just got continually pushed back in priority until they are
virtually forgotten!

When I was looking at their half finished applications my immediate
reaction was "you should just put it out there!",
also seeing the reaction to the unfinished oauth app has re-enforced
this feeling.

We've had this blinking silly cow application sitting in a repo for
ages and so I'm going to try and get that out within the next week.
I've also got an sms app but that will take about a weeks more work.
Have you guys got any outstanding side projects which have just lain
unloved? What are they? How much effort would it take to get a basic
offering on the market?

We could have a quick 15min whip round the room to see who managed
toclean up a project at the next meeting. Infact a slot for everyone
to quickly announce anything they like might be an ideal addition to
the evening.
Join me in my Autumn cleaning!

You can't imagine how much I understand you.
3 of us got a great idea on how to use better current/old technologies
present on phones, using Android OS (and possibly other OSes in the
future).
But daily (food making) work just pushes this stuff back and back.

Sometimes it gets even sad.

Well my idea was to commit to something, anything!
If you are openly telling people about your project on this list you
are loosely creating a deadline for yourself.
I'm going to work on the train to get something finished!

So I seized the chance and just shoved it all out the door.
In an interesting experiment fit for a blog post I have attempted to
fully internationalise the app and
put it on varying prices on different app stores to see what happens.
After a little while we'll drop the price tag but to begin with it
will be interesting to just see the relative uptake.
There is great variation in the app store's sign up process but my
most pleasurable was with slideme.
Next up would be the Official Android Market.

These are the App stores I deployed the app on:
android market
andappstore
slideme

I'm currently waiting verification on these markets:
handago
mobihand

When we go free we'll also deploy on:
appslib

Not to change the topic but I'd be interested to hear in others
experiences with the app stores.
