After long time I finally took on task of trying out Android. As I'm
keen IntelliJ user so I checked their plugin directory to find they
have support only for 8.0 (http://plugins.intellij.net/plugin/?
id=1792) where I'm already running 8.1.2.
After that I tried to follow Getting Started with IntelliJ IDEA and
Android Development (http://code.google.com/p/idea-android/wiki/
GettingStarted), but there is no such option as "Activity" and when
manually re-typing code imported libraries are not recognised.

Anyone have any idea how to get Android working under IntelliJ?

Hello Peter,
I have not played with intellij and android. I meant to do so at one
point. Have you checked the following:
http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/other-ide.html

There used to be an option for intellij when you created a new project
on the command line (e.g. activitycreator.py ... -ide="intellij" or
similar). Now you use the android create project which does not take
an IDE as option.
I believe the wiki you are looking at is quite old (for v0.5 of
android...) and obsolete.

I would be quite interested if somebody else has been succesful with intellij

I do not think that plugin version refers to version of SDK. It is
shame that I cannot find more info on supported version.
Will see if anyone has any info on this during Thursday meetup.

To our yesterday short discussion.
If you have contact on IntelliJ IDEA (jetbrain) people try to talk
them into higher interest in support of Android.
Secondly they are know as very generous sponsors. JAVAWUG (Java Web
User Group) is giving on every meetup few licences for this IDE.
The company also support community developers, which get free copy of
IDE (not sure of the whole process, still running on my university
copy till end of October xD )
