Dear members and supporters,

 

Please find the addition of CARE International, EveryChild, Médecins Sans Frontières, Womankind and the Peru Earthquake Aid Committee to the list of organisations that are participating in the relief efforts following last week’s earthquake in Peru. This list is by no means exhaustive, and there are many other organisations collaborating.

CARE International UK

In response to the recent earthquake in Peru, CARE (through CARE Peru) is setting up a relief operation and has launched an appeal for US$1 million. It is mainly focusing on the Chincha region, and hopes to reach 2,000 families in this immediate phase, with a number of interventions.

Peru Earthquake Aid Committee

Set up specifically in the wake of the earthquake by members of the Peruvian community in the UK.

 

The first fundraising event will be held on Saturday 25 August in PRAXIS, Pott Street London, E2 0EF, from 5:00 until 10:00 p.m. It will consist of music and dance groups, typical food from Peru and drinks. Entrance to the event will be £10, as a donation. The following website will soon go live http://www.peruearthquake.org.uk. WOMANKIND

The effort is being co-ordinated on the ground by WOMANKIND’s partner, the Ica Women’s Federation (FEPROMU).
