Announcements from the following stations have been uploaded during
this month:
5 from Vauxhall
8 from Waterloo East
8 from Wimbledon
4 from Woking
and 6 from Cannon Street.
These announcements can be heard at Railway recorded announcements 5.
You may notice that the Vauxhall announcements are slightly more
disjointed compared with the usual solid state Robert Lister
announcements. This is because this system was put in by Radicle
Technology, which was the company that took over the work of Infomat
after they ceased trading. In order to reduce the number of new words
and phrases required, it was decided to split up each announcement
into even smaller speech sections which resulted in the finished
product sounding rather strange. I also have recordings of a similar
system that was installed at Woolwich Arsenal that used the voice of
Julie Berry which I will upload sometime in the future.
