Dear all,
Please see below for a electrophysiolog-in-patients event at the Crick this Thursday
Interfacing the human brain: neurons to networks
A deep understanding of brain activity is vital to comprehend how the brain functions in health and disease. New technologies are driving a paradigm shift in how we approach this complex and challenging task.
“Neurotechnologies” are helping to “decode” the brain. Speakers will discuss how these technologies permit us to better investigate brain cancer, tools to restore speech in neurodegenerative disease, and how devices such as “brain-computer interfaces” can
restore movement in paralysis.
This is the lineup:
Harith Akram (together with Will Muirhead here at the Crick) are leading the UK Neuralink trial,
David Brandman has demonstrated real time speech decoding with Braingate implants and is the lead surgeon for the first Paradromics clinical speech implant trial, Angelique Paulk
has done the first Neuropixel recordings in patients, Kai Miller (Physics PhD and neurosurgeon) is a key leader in the field to use stereoencephalography to guide surgery and DBS for new use cases and
Mariska Vansteensel is building already real-world BCI based on ECoGs.
So if you are interested in human electrophysiology or BCI, clinical or basic neuroscience - join us at the Crick (and please sign up in the above eventbrite)
See you there
Andreas
