Dear Colleagues,

Please circulate this to any students that may be interested in a computational neuroscience PhD. 

The Topic: 

Modelling the staggered development and the decline with age of spatial coding in the mammalian brain + data analysis of single neuron recordings. In particular, the student will model the interactions between various spatial cells (head direction, place cells, etc) - e.g., in Matlab/Python.

Candidates: 

This could be an interesting project for neuroscience/psychology graduates wanting to get into modelling. Programming experience is an asset. Students from outside these fields with a quantitative/programming background are welcome to apply too.

Where:

In sunny Newcastle, North UK, at Newcastle University, UK (with me), with a rotation in the lab of Prof. Colin Lever (Durham, UK, co-supervisor)

Funding:

Fully funded, for 4 years by the BBSRC. International and UK students can apply. Fees are covered!

BBSRC Liverpool/Durham/Newcastle DTP3 scheme.
