A bit OT but as the compressor is in the metalwork shop....

Does anyone know if it's suitable for use in spray painting?  I've got a small motorcycle tank that needs a coat of clear lacquer at some point.  It looks like a big enough unit for the job and the hoses looked long enough to reach out into the cage.  Obviously happy to buy my own gun if there's not one kicking around.

I did look on the "Equipment" page but couldn't find a spec for the compressor and forgot to make a note of the make / model last time I was in.

Hi Andy.... I've just had a look at the compressor, and can't find a rating plate for the whole machine.... The tank is rated at 8bar working pressure, though. I've certainly seen people spraying with physically smaller ones!

Matt.

Thanks Matt,
I think I'll bite the bullet, buy a cheap gun and see how it goes.

I'll update this thread once I'm done.

the air fitting on the long hose is XL PCL
It produces about 13-14 cfm from memory
It does not have a oil filter or air drier

Thanks Dean,
That's really helpful.  It looks like a few companies make small inline oil and water filters for this purpose which you put just before the spray gun.  Not sure how good they'll be but I'm not needing a concours finish and they're cheap enough so I'll give one a try.
