Hi guys,

A heads up for lathe users (and especially the maintainers.)

I went to use the metal lathe last night (well this morning really, but I hadn't been to bed yet) and it seems the apron wheel has come loose again. It just spins with no Z travel (This seems to have happened in the past couple of days because it was fine last time I used it and was completely disconnected when I first tried last night).

I seem to remember it was something fairly trivial last time (a grub screw or somesuch), but I was too tired by that point to start faffing about with it and now I can't find that conversation on the mailing list.

regards

Jonathan

Ah yes, I remembered it as not being anything drastic, just not necessarily obvious and couldn't recall the details.

Found the original exchange now, it wasn't on this group (which is where I was searching) but in normal emails.

Liam reported back then

"Actually the saddle wheel can be disengaged by pulling the whole wheel out by about half an inch, and when pushed back in to re-engage, it will only pick up its index pins in two places (180 deg apart.) There is a is a spring pointed grub screw (which people were tightening) its job is to give it the positive 'in or out' feel, not secure the wheel."
