Milling Machine/ Lathe induction.

Hi all,

I am new to hackspace, so sorry if this is the wrong place to request this. I was wondering whether there was any availability for milling machine/lathe inductions? I have used them before but not for a few years. In desperate need of them for a project, so access to the machines would be greatly appreciated.

If you are experienced there is no need for a lesson, we can do a quick induction where you just demonstrate you know how to use the machines.

You need to be a member of the hackspace first though.

Hi Tim,

I would be keen to pay for some lessons to build up my confidence again. Are you available to provide lessons within the next 2 weeks for the lathe and mill? I have not purchased a membership yet but am happy to do so once lessons have been confirmed.

I am happy to arrange a lesson if you become a member. It takes a few days for membership to become active, so don't expect to be able to sign up on the same day.

Although I'm charging for lessons, it's a subsidised price and still represents volunteering on my part. The lessons are meant to be a bonus for hackspace members, so I have to give priority to them. However, if you are very keen to get started, a monetary donation to our cash-strapped non-profit organisation could buy you a place at the front of the queue. We were looking at buying some new micrometers and dial indicators for the space - a contribution towards that would be welcomed by all of the metalworkers.
