Scratch on Monitor Screen

Hello all,

My monitor has a small scratch, which is illuminated when turned on. Please find attached a picture, which shows this.

Would anyone know how I can get this reversed? It's not a big issue, but was hoping there is a solution.

It will polish out, but doing that will remove the matt surface and put a shine on the whole area. This may look worse than the scratch.

What's scratched may not be the screen itself, but a polarizing film in front of the screen. If you're handy with a screwdriver and know how to be safe inside electrical equipment, you can buy a replacement and fit it for less than £10.

The best fix is probably to replace the front film (if possible) as Colin suggests. I was just warning that the obvious method is likely to make things worse. 

However if you can't replace it you might try to make the scuff in the scratch less obvious. Try putting alcohol or water on it - this may reduce the impact for a short while until it dries off. If it helps, you could try something a bit more permanent. Some sort of wax perhaps which will fill the scratch but not the matt surface. If too much is applied it can probably be removed with alcohol. So you might try rubbing the  scratch with a neutral coloured wax than cleaning most of it away with IPA. 

That's got at least as good a chance of failing as working. You might be better off just living with it.

I polished one out with toothpaste? or t-cut a long time ago. It did leave a glossy area on the screen but it was less noticeable  / irritating than the scratch itself. YMMV.
