Full working order according to SWMBO.
Surplus to requirements but evidently pretty rubbished as a personal care device per the online reviews.

Since it has safety warnings about high powered lasers and such I thought someone at the space might repurpose it to some peaceful and productive use.

Give a shout.  I'll be at the space later tonight.

Well, it's high powered enough to cause eye damage, especially since it is IR at 808nm, so appears very, very dim to the eye, despite the high power. People are likely to think it is faulty, and look into the "weak" beam. Not good.

IPL is far more effective and far faster then "20 hairs at a time", from my research. I'd suggest it be scrapped unless anyone has a good idea of a safe use for this - you certainly can't use it as a pointer!

More specifically, the dim appearance of this wavelength means that the human blink reflex is not engaged when you catch it, or a reflection in your eye. Blink reflex is a critical element for working safely with open lasers.
I did some trials with a laser around this wavelength, a few years ago, and it was quite odd: I could not focus properly on the spot on the wall - I think the eye uses wavelength as a distance cue, and it doesn't know what to do with this wavelength.

Regards, Chris.
