Hi fellow hackspacers

As one of the digest readers please could those of you who get individual messages please delete all previous messages as otherwise the signal to noise ratio becomes too high with multiple duplication of older emails.  I'm only signally paddy as he seems to be the main culprit. Please help keep the digest readable

thanks
Ian

The digest option is not the "true" way to get the mailing list. It is an extra option should you not wish to get all the emails individually, asking those using the list normally not to use it in what is seen by some to be the "correct" way has little chance of working.

If you find the list to noisy to be subscribed normally may I suggest turning off emails to your inbox and reading it though the "forum" style interface google now provides at https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/london-hack-space

There is a further option - select abridged daily summary (or similar). That gives you a flavour of each message. Then I go to web for more details of those I'm interested in. Works for me.

Or indeed grab the rss link from google groups, and read the list with any rss reader (reeder for the iPhone is good) -- that way, you can stop reading as soon as the 'new' message ends, and you have the choice of individual emails or threads. Of course, there is the (rare) possibility that you'll miss emails if you don't refresh the rss frequently enough...

It's not the reader that's the problem, it's the app that Paddy's
using on his "thing".

When he's using his laptop to respond to the messages, then the google
groups correctly interprets the message as the email client sends the
format it expects. So the forum software can shorten it as normal.

When he's using his Blackberry, then it sends a different form of
message, so the forum software prints out the whole email, rather than
truncating the older replied to messages.

Problem is on google's end. Though if Paddy could trim the rest of the
message, then the problem would be solved.

Either that or find him a different mail client for his Blackberry.

Exactly my point.

It quoted the whole message, and truncated nowt.

For me, no matter how or from what I send, and on whatever client I read
them, they all look the same.
But if someone wants to buy me a new phone to fix it, they are very welcome.
