Yes it is. And the flange that holds it is an old pie-tin that's been
cut with tin-snips & glued in place. It breaks away frequently from the
downward force of atmosphere. I made that chamber. It's a spectacular
piece of shit and I can make far better now.
If you really want to cast a new seal on a bigger one, you'll have to
use a mould release as silicone can fuse to the exposed steel grain.
But mostly, making a clean cut & using a �30 edge-seal seamed easier &
cheaper than having a wide enough flat facing flange machined to fit the
chamber and welding it both flat and pressure-tight.
Incidentally, I now have an HD video camera, so will soon be pressing on
with on-camera building my new personal vac-chamber. If the space would
like a replacement, I'll need parts to materialise soon.
Hell, even an old aluminium pressure-cooker would make a better one (my
current benchtop chamber option).
