Hi guys,
Is there anyone with a reasonable knowledge of how to use the laser-cutter that can gimme a hand after 5 today.
I guess it will be only for 5 min, as it is a small engraving job and then let it repeat it.
Basically it's to engrave a logo in some cork caps.
I've done the training and I can use it, but don't feel very confident for this job, as it requires some accuracy and attention to detail, and I don't want to burn the material I've as it is quite expensive.
Any help would be awesome!

Afraid I won't be there, but my top tip for accuracy, would be to:
1) Run in simulation mode first
2) Lay a sheet of paper down (speed 220, power 15) to get an idea if it's doing what you want. Watch carefully for flames.
3) Put your expensive material down. Adjust z height. Put paper down and run again at (speed 220, power 15). Check allignment before lifting paper.

Remember that the laser won't be as powerful in the bottom left corner, so if you need consistency, it's better to to more sets all in the top left corner.

The risk of larger flames when using paper would make me nervous recommending that to someone who is new to it...

The best advice I have it to check every setting at least 3 times - make sure you delete all before downloading your work to the cutter and always "Run Box" right before your engraving job.

Good luck!

At that speed and power, it barely browns paper.

It's definitely worth testing on something before using your limited expensive material.

Aligning a cut onto an existing object is the hardest part.

One trick I've seen is to cut a jig out of cardboard.

If you do figure anything out, add it to the wiki!
