I rechecked the measurements of my SBC's paralell port IDC pitch. It's
actually 2mm, not 0.05". :P

I've found suitable parts on Farnell, but I'm balking at the price. A
single 26-way IDC socket and 1m of 28AWG 1mm-pitch ribbon cable comes to
16 including VAT & postage.

Does the space or anyone here have and 2mm pitch, 26-way female IDC's
knocking about? If they're through-hole I'll just solder wires by hand.

Parts I've found:

16 for a single tiny connector and wire I'm going to use maybe 4-inches
of is a bit of a hard sell.

Toby.co.uk are better for 2mm stuff.
I have a reasonable stock of 2mm stuff and a couple of reels of 1mm
cable cable - not sure offhand if I have 26 way connectors - email me
offlist if you get stuck.

Thankyou! 95p per connector is MUCH more like I was expecting! Shame
they don't seem to do the 1mm pitch ribbon too.

Maybe I could separate the strands of some 80-conductor IDE cable to get
the right pitch-spacing.. The AWG might be a bit low tho.

Cheapest cable including shipping is now 6.80.

Do Maplins shops still have cut-to-length cable?

It also might be worth looking in the Ribbon Cables box in the component bins.

When dismantling a couple of printers, i'm sure that i stuck a few cables like that, in the appropriate component bin.
