Hi everyone,

I signed up yesterday for membership (so it might be a few days before I get processed) but I wanted to find out if there are any skilled members on the Gantry CNC machine who could assist me with routering the contoured base of my model in hardwood. The surface area covers A2 and would be cut from 2/2.5" woodstock. I understand that you have to have a certain amount of experience on the more basic CNC machines beforehand but as I have a pressing deadline I'd be happy to pay anybody for their time helping me with this project. I'd love to learn about the process and hope to gain more experience over the coming months.

Right now I have the files in DWG and also some Sketchup variants. Would be grateful for any advice or to hear from anyone interested.

Many thanks,

Ahilan

Pressing deadlines and the hack space do not work well together,
You should look into other options such as paying for a machine shop to do this

Hi Luke, yes I gathered it would be a long shot. Looking around but it's proving pretty expensive, thinking about going analog and testing my skills!
Thanks

Do you happen to have any recommendations for CNC Machine shops?  Cheers

Hi Ahilan,

Oxford Hackspace has some expertise in architectural modelmaking on a budget, if you want to try us?

It's a long story ;) but we have an unusual setup where we run a prototyping service in exchange for access to our premises...and one of the things we offer in that service is architectural models.

We have found that we can offer some things quite significantly cheaper than modelling houses etc., so it might suit.

Email proto...@oxhack.org with what you need, if you want to start a conversation with us and see if we can help. ;)

Cheers,

Lauren
