Hi,

I am seeking help on getting started with my new seeedstudio music
shield for arduino (uno). I have followed all the instructions on
their wiki page here (http://www.seeedstudio.com/wiki/index.php?
title=Music_Shield) but nothing seems to be happening. I was wondering
if someone had any experience with the same board..

Thanks a lot, Giulio

Have you tried asking on their forum (http://www.seeedstudio.com/forum/)? Seems they would be better able to provide support.

Yes, I have posted on that forum too.. but it doesn't seem very populated! That company is pretty weird, all the documentation looks almost fake.. Please let me know if you know anyone that used that board before..

thanks guys!

Have you tried flashing the LEDs (D8/D9) directly?
Have you asked on the arduino forums... there are a heap of people
there.. who compete to help you:)

Yes I have tried there too but didn't get any response.. which is weird. I guess this shield is not too popular. I should have look into it better I guess...
Anyway I tried the D8, D9 led and they both works.. which is good, right? Is how to get sound out of this thing that remains a mystery!

Have you used it before? Were you using an arduino UNO?

Hey! you might need to give more info if you need help,

What version of Arduino IDE are you using? see there is a different
version for 1.0 and 0022
did you replace portpins.h file?

to troubleshoot it is best to eliminate problems by using known to work items
what sketch are you trying to run? a demo that came with the libraries?

Hi Ben,

I am using IDE 1.0, Arduino UNO
I replaced the portpins.h file
and I am trying to run the file that comes with the library suggested on the wiki.. the sketch (the only one inside there) is called musicPlayAll

..have you used that sketch too?

Ok, I can now run music from the shield. The big mistake I was doing was to use a 4gb SD card.. everything works well with a 2gb! Remember that in case you will have the same problem!

Now I am trying to get my sketch working but it only runs for one time. When the analogRead goes under a threshold the file is played.. but when it has played once, it will not play again. This is my sketch if you guys wanna have a look at it..

Thanks a lot!

use the source [1], luke

void Play()
{
playingState = PS_NEXT_SONG;
currentFile = 1;
//cyclely play
while(1)
{
...
}
}

In other words, Play() never returns.
Instead it enters a loop where it continually checks the button and player status, and plays files off the sd card.
cyclely play, innit.

hth,

ahaha thanks obi wan!
the problem is that that stuff is still arabic to me! Could you try and put it in the sketch so I can understand better? Cause I will not use the button at all.. and it's just one file I need to play... always the same!

Thanksss!
