Hi there,

My Dad has an antique microscope he's trying to repair.  Needs to get a small cog made.  Anyone know of somewhere in London where they do such things?  I've searched around on google for tooling and machinist etc but not finding anything.

Thanks in advance for any tips you may have.

Warm regards,

Josef.

*Model engineering* groups may be a good place to look. While there's
technically enough tools in the space to make small brass gears, I doubt
they'd be able to do it accurately enough. We only have a small rotary
table (without clamps) and certainly not the an indexing head which is
the usual for gear-cutting.

Have you tried contacting the Society of Model and Experimental
Engineers?

http://www.sm-ee.co.uk/

They're based in Brixton. Their members have a lot of experience in
making small custom machinery.

The model railway group's are worth a chat too.

There's one colleague that mostly uses watchmaker's lathes.
Watchmaker's suppliers would be worth a look as well.
