Data recovery for a 10 year old android phone.

Anyone got any ideas/advice for recovering data from a 2011 HTC Sensation XL android smartphone. The data recovery places are asking for an arm and a leg. If anyone knows someone or has any idea of if can be DIYed then please let me know.
