I'm interested in picking one up for personal use, and am happy to
help anyone else bringing them to the Hackspace or elsewhere.
James
I would also like one for personal use, but won't be back in London
until the 3rd of Feb. If someone would be find enough to collect and
label one for me, and leave it somewhere (I don't have a box) I would
greatly appreciate it and repay with beer.
Thanks,
Kimball (drrk)
I could do with 2 or 3 for home use.
I'll be around on Saturday afternoon with a car and am happy to put the
seats down in the and transport as many monitors as will fit if they
still need collecting and other people want them too.

Clarification: transport *to the space*.
D
I'd love two or three if somebody could drop them in the space, but if
it's too much hassle don't worry!
Thanks,
Jonty
However if anyone DOES want to make a video-wall like that, I do have a
bunch of old PCI dual-head graphics cards, so a 3x3 setup would be
pretty easy with any mainboard with 5 PCI slots.
Sci
I'm still interested in 2-3 for private use (assuming that's fair).
I've no transport, but loads of time & am willing to help carry them.

I don't know what these things eBay for, but £10 seems not unreasonable?

Hea Billy,
Plans are, if I am able to get out of work for an hour or two, I'll be going this morning about 11. I'll load the car and then drive to HS.
We reckon it'll take about 'til 12:30-13:00 to get to HS.
It would be great to have some help once I get there to unload them and bring them up the lift.
I could send you an SMS once I am near HS?
thanks,
Bernard

Hi Adrian,
I'll let the list know in a few hours how many I have managed to ram...I mean carefully, put in my car.

going to process the monitors. Billys labelled one for everyone
who claimed one, and two for dave. I'm going to briefly test
them and clear them away (bagsied ones first going under the black
table (?) rest by the three week system to encourage takers?
I'm on irc (probablt not on the channel, too distracting) if you want to get my attention via a /msg.
werd,

Hi all,
Ok, so monitors have been put aside for everyone who asked for one. There's a post-it on them with peoples names so enjoy.
There are a number left over, and after whatever have been used by the space etc, those who wanted more are welcome to fight over them. Tickets for spectators are £5. Lots of blood please!
Some don't have PSUs, which should be a real problem. They require 19V 3.6A DC. A quick ebay should come up with good PSUs.
We have done basic POT and display checks on them all, but if they explode and eat your children, sorry :(

werd,
Or even the 3-week bin. 19v is pretty common for laptop power adaptors,
and often within that power range.
Will see what's left tomorrow evening, might be interested in one. Might.
Sci
I think that the main point is the [un]availability of the
power-supplies - I'm not sure if they were missing or if they just
didn't make it into the transport, but if it's the latter, that would
make our existing supply much more useful.
I'm available on Monday afternoon, but have no transport - if that's
of any use, email me directly.
-adrian
In which case I think, if Adrian is more available than I am, I'm happy for him to do it.
Like this morning it all depends on if I am available, and I won't really know that until Monday evening / Tuesday morning.
I'd happily be the contingency plan as opposed to the plan A.
Regarding the power 19V power supplies, there was a humongous spiders web of assorted cables in Simon's office which I had a look through. Nothing seemed obvious that it was a 19V VDU power supply. I did make an effort to find them but it wasn't to be. Unless Simon knows if they are available...?
Either way any power supply with 19V, 3.1*A and the right connector will work.
Whoever is going down on Tuesday would do well to find them and bring them to the space.
- From this morning's experience, I think having hands in the hackspace to help transporting is worth more than having lots of people going for the pickup. Many hands make light work as the old shoplifting proverb goes.
Thanks to all for the help today.
Bernard

It might be useful to have a passenger to help carry stuff, especially
if I'm taking things to the school rather than hackspace. I can be
fairly flexible on timing, if someone can tell me where to go / who to
see.

I would like a couple of the ones with built in supplies, and one of the others but I don't need the supply as
I intend to run it off a battery - so 12V input preferred, but 19V would be OK too.
I can't get to the space to collect them until Saturday, but could deliver some to west london on the way
back if anyone else wants some.
Nigle
I'll collect as many as possible subject to overcrowding the space,
but can drop a few off in North London on the way home if that helps.

Really, 12v?
Perfect for solar powered setup - I'll grab one of those pls!

They are oldish enginnering samples of the SiRF chipset, they have a
'frequency out' connector, which if it's a gps stabilised frequency source
might be very accurate and useful for some radio things.
They might also have a Pulse Per Second signal on one of the pins on the
serial ports, in which case they could be used to make a stratum one ntp
clock.
They could do with a do not hack sticker, i think at least one complete
unti should stay in the space.

I have had a look at one of the non workers and there are a couple of
suspect electrolytic caps in the SMPU. I have left it in bits in the quiet
room, if anyone wants to have a go before I get back to it tomorrow feel
