Need a supplier of gooseneck tube. Ideally a long enough reel so I can make custom cuts of it as needed Gooseneck tube reel/coil(wholesale)

Endless gooseneck tube sizes and  products out there use it - like lamps, mounts etc..etc...
Would be very very expensive to rip apart stuff for scraps of the stuff.

I would also need guidance on the attachments commonly used with gooseneck tube...where to I buy them in bulk and how to crimp/fuse them?

See no reason why these things can't be made modular ...one end of a length clipping into another with the right kind of connector/attachment. Perhaps someone knows this better that I do?

The google-fu is 'flexible conduit'.

However, this is generally armouring in plastic or metal to protect the cable : it doesn't tend to be self-supporting or hold its shape. If that's what you need, I'm not sure it's available in reels.

Indeed I need the self supporting variety. The one with enough strength vs flex that can hold a tablet, mobile, tools etc.
When I Google(images) gooseneck I see an endless stream of products. Leads me to believe that gooseneck must be common and somehow supplied in bulk, right? How do the manufacturers get their products done? They can't all do it themselves can they?
Just to five a rough idea of where I would be going with this :
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=octopus+gooseneck&espv=2&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=4ahPVYLnF8nY7AaXhYH4Dw&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ

The important part here is the ability for endless modularity the above images demonstrate and also finding a way for things like clamps, vaccum clamps, magnet clamps, ball head, threads and fittings attached to the and of the gooseneck.

If buying wholesale is out of reach this time round any ideas of an affordable workarounds??

Thanks for the input guys/girls! :)

Where do I buynthese??

Would like to have similar ball head receptacle sockets so I could mount my goosenecks to these

Imagine the tubes being goosenecks ....need a fast and reliable way to achieve similar freedom of sliding to a desired point on a gooseneck. . I am seeking to achieve structures such as these by sliding some kind of clamp/connector dynamicly along the lengths of individual branches...that way I could add strength stability and different gripping attachment methods(again imagine the glass being gooseneck tube and branch joints would then have to be some kind of easy, fast release stuff)

Would be good to be able to snap join two lengths of gooseneck into 1 longer stretch with the ease that garden hose fittings offer at present

These are made specifically for garden hose but the idea and the ease with which pieces can be joined or dismembered illustrates what I am asking here.

Skiffy do lots of small plastic and metal parts and will send free samples. They might have something similar to what you are looking for but I don't think they have the tube. Coolant hoses are another option (like Gorrilapods).

For what (little) it's worth, searching for gooseneck on alibabba gives some good-looking results, after a few really bad ones.  Obviously, I don't know if they are any good or are the Chinese eqiv of 419 scammers...

Skiffy look good although I couldnt find the ball head type plastic receptacle sockets...
Flexible Coolent hoses are cheap enough. Would that third arm hold the weight of a tablet 10.1" (assuming a gorillapod like usage)?

This is the type of answer that I come back to again and again!

http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Shinily-3-8-flexible-gooseneck_60124460442.html
Manufacturer based in Shenzhen, China.

Have you any personal experience in importing small volumes (20 meters of gooseneck to be precise) through Alibaba?

This is entering a different domain, a new ball game for me.
Lots to consider... not your average click and receive online transaction!

Is there a way to import without breaking the bank so to speak.

Cheers Tim.
The quote came back with over 20 pounds per meter of the stuff(3/8").
Suitable fittings for quickly setting up seems best illustrated by the connectors on the attached images.
Does anyone know if and where to buy the end connectors only?
Should save me £££ I really need like 20 flex arms etc..

Somewhat baffled by the extortionate prices and lack of local supply :(.

Red ball illustrates an earlier post of this thread in practice(green cane ball)

The "Manfrotto snake arm" seems to somehow stiffen up as you rotate the lever.
Any ideas on how would that work in practice underneath? Insanely expensive!
Alternative with the functionality on the cheap?

I think the manfrotto arm will be a number of segments, or a lightly coiled spiral, that's tensioned by a wire up the middle. Under tension, the segments can't move as easily.

There's also a method like this in dial indicator mounts used for machining. Doesn't help you much as dial indicator stands are more expensive than lamps!

I'm not sure that £20 per meter is excessive. It seems very reasonable, especially as that meter will make a few stands. Note that it's not indefinitely self-supporting - it will have a weight limit (else you wouldn't be able to move it), and its own weight will cut into that.

You might well find something much cheaper, but it may be nasty quality. If you want it to look good for a fancy stand system, it's probably better to pay more.
