Wao Annabel!
The Lord was speaking to us this evening about this.
My sons tomorrow have a mad hair day and we had to look in the scripture about what the cross of Christ meant to us and specifically to caution them (10 & 8 yr old presently) at school when faced with peer pressure and influence to conform and compromise. [By the way nothing wrong with fancy hairdos in the right context].
These were our readings..
Dan 1:8 But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank:
therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.
Dan 1:17 As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
Bottom line to them and us adults; make God feel special (He is our father we are to respect and obey Him - in Christian lingo take off your shoes where He is, is holy ground) and make God look good (He is your father identify and boast of Him - in Christian Lingo; worship and praise Him!)
I believe God is the foundation
and architect of our construct in life as a Christian. If you are like me, we therefore need a living relationship with Him! Achievable only by taking up our cross and following Christ (master builder) as a disciple (co-worker). Otherwise we are exposed to imaginary (mind) battles and spiritual confusion (worldliness, etc) hence we compromise and fall short.
My prayer is the Lord would give us all like Moses a vision of His glory or at least visions of Heaven and Hell so that we may be transformed. As many of us prefer to live in the valley of indecision (which is in fact a decision - and are in danger of being spilled out by Christ). Daniel made up his mind! .. So,...God blessed him more (interpret Dreams and visions) than his friends who I believe agreed to join up with Daniel who made the initial stand.
The cross and dip in the road respectively speak of self control (putting away
self) and judgment. May we be willing and obedient so that we may obtain his commendation in this life and forever live with our Lord and Savior.
Somebody out there make up your mind, take a stand! I want to stand along side U!
David
