London, £60k + bonus scheme
My business, The Scale Factory (
http://www.scalefactory.com), is a
small, London-based consultancy. We design, build, operate and scale
Linux infrastructure for clients of various sizes, across a number of
business sectors.
One employee described work at The Scale Factory as “a limitless
supply of interesting problems”, which is true, largely because we aim
to only have to solve each problem once.
We’re looking for someone new to join us. We expect that:
* You have demonstrable experience of operating Linux in production
environments.
* You’re good at learning new technologies and methods
* You believe in automation and in testing
* You’re familiar with at least one config management ecosystem
* You understand the value of monitoring and logging
* You’re a good communicator (both online, and in person), and you
work well with others.
* You’re willing to take part in our low-volume on-call rota.
Your time will be split between working on customer premises (mostly
in London) and working remotely, as projects demand. You’ll work on
new infrastructure builds, typically on AWS; on our internal suite of
reusable Puppet manifests; and you’ll work with customers’ development
teams on continuous delivery pipelines, and on making their platforms
more robust.
We’re offering £60k salary, and we run an annual profit share bonus
scheme. We’ll furnish you with high spec hardware on which to work.
In addition we have a budget for conference attendance (we sponsor a
number of DevOps community conferences every year), and we encourage
contributions to Open Source projects.
Technologies we currently use include AWS, Apache, Bacula, CentOS,
Jenkins, Logstash, MCollective, MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Puppet,
Ubuntu, Vagrant, Varnish and Zabbix. We work with a number of language
environments including Java, Perl, PHP, Python, NodeJS, Ruby and
shell. We’re not expecting you to be expert in all of these - the
ability to learn new technologies quickly is more important than years
of experience.
If you’re interested in working with us, please introduce yourself by
email to
car...@scalefactory.com - if you don’t have a CV immediately
to hand, that’s fine, but we’ll need to see one eventually. Successful
applicants will be given a technical skills assessment tailored to the
type of work we do. After that, we’ll interview you by Skype or
Hangouts, before meeting in person.
We believe strongly in diversity, and welcome applications from anyone
regardless of age, gender, sexuality, race or physical ability.
Regrettably, we can currently only accept applications from people who
are already eligible to work in the UK, as we’re not in a position to
offer assistance with visa applications.
We’re not opposed to working with recruiters to find the right person
for this role, however if you are a recruiter, please first
familiarise yourself with our Note To Recruiters
(
http://www.scalefactory.com/team/note-to-recruiters) and if you're
willing to play by those rules, then get in touch by email to
car...@scalefactory.com. Please wait to hear from us, and do not call
us unless explicitly invited to do so.
