Making Workshop

Join us for an afternoon workshop on Biological Making (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/physics-living-systems/biological_making),
organised by the Institute for the Physics of Living Systems (IPLS) with
special guest speaker, Dr Matthieu Piel (Institute Curie, IPGG,
Paris).
A number of research groups at UCL are working with Francis Crick Institute to establish a Laboratory for Biological Making. The goal of the lab will be to create a
space where individual researchers can come together to share equipment, techniques, ideas, skills and take training classes.
In preparation for setting up the lab (anticipated to be in 2016 when the new Francis Crick Institute building
opens), we thought it would be a good idea to gather groups interested in biological making to discuss how they have used techniques such as microfabrication and micropatterning in their research, and to discuss their future dreams, interests and plans in
this area. To this end, we are organising an afternoon meeting on 23 June as part of the IPLS event series to discuss these ideas and to meet one another.
We welcome anyone interested in Biological Making. The workshop is free, but we ask that you registerso
we know how many attendees to expect. Please also forward to anyone else you think might be interested!

UCL Institute of Making Tour:
13:10-13:40: Meet at Institute of Making (Map)
Zoe Laughlin from the Institute of Making has kindly agreed to lead a tour of the institute before the start of our workshop.
The IoM is an extremely successful model of how an interdisciplinary research space can work so we encourage anyone who is interested to join in the tour. The tour will meet at the front of IoM at 13:10.
