I was reading about the water filtration system that was designed for BedZED,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BedZED It's an enviromentally-friendly housing
estate in Sutton.
The water filtering system is based on the Living Machine principles,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Living_machine
Though it's obvious in retrospect, i hadn't come across this before.
It shouldn't be too hard to sort out a tour of the place. Would anyone else be
interested in going to have a look at the system they built?
------------------------------------------------------
Now, i'm primarily interested in looking at soil/ground-water contamination,
and trying to make sure that farmland isn't contaminated to the point where
the food grown is inedible.
Most of my kinfolk are fishermen or farmers, with a couple of marine
biologists thrown into the mix. Go figure. :))
---------------------------------------------------------------------
While it's been on the back-burner, i'm still interested in funding the
developement of OSHW water-testing and soil-testing kits.
I know that i don't have enough of the necessary skillsets or enough
background knowledge to do this effectively by myself.
Could anyone on this mailing list recommend someone who has the skills, and is
interested in working on this problem?
Billy
