Nicholas, thanks this is awesome.  

Comments as a complete newbie, that may help develop the wiki page:

1.   Centrifuge.  Necessary? Recommendations?  Just PCR tubes or one for full test tubes as well?  Soeed (I picked one up on ebay but it only is 6200rpm - will this suffice of do i need a much faster one?)

2.   Under Electrophorisis - any links to gel type and supplier, recommendations on buffer and supplier, DNA ladder and supplier.  You mention staining agent options under Visualiser, but a section showing the agent type (and supplier) and visualiser type would be great.

3.  PCR.  Supply of primers?

4.  Spin columns?

5.  Fridge and freezer.  -40 necessary or or normal freezer OK for short term storage?

6.  Incubator.  Shaking necessary?  Home made?

7.  Slope culture suppliers in the UK.  I tried using MCBE but could not buy from them as an individual.  http://blades-bio.co.uk/ have been good so far.

Again, thanks for putting this guide together - its really helpful to us newbies.
