Make sure you have a sturdy lock when you head out to the pool. It will keep your valuables safe, and let you hit the water feeling more secure about your belongings. Locks are required to enter, and we will not accept luggage locks.
The Chicago Park District manages 50 outdoor pools, 27 indoor pools and works with Chicago Public Schools to operate school pools for community use in areas without a park pool. Indoor pools are open most of the year. Outdoor pools typically open in late June and close just prior to the start of the CPS school year in August. Most pools have accessibility features such as ADA stairs, pool lifts, and zero-depth entry. At a few locations with pool lifts, direct wheelchair access to the pool area may still be limited.
Open swim and lap swim sessions are offered throughout the year. Admission to open-swim sessions is free, lap swims require an affordable membership. Aquatics programs such as Learn to Swim, Aquatic Exercise, and much more are offered each season. Most programs have a minimal fee. Programs for seniors is free. The standard pool rules are as follows:
1. Obey the lifeguards and follow pool rules. They are there for your safety.
2. All persons are required to shower before entering the pool area.
3. Food and drink are not permitted in the pool area.
4. No smoking allowed in the pool area.
5. Clean swimwear is required.
6. No running allowed on pool deck.
7. Only clean footwear, baby strollers, or wheelchairs are allowed in the pool area. Persons in street clothes and street shoes are not allowed on the pool deck.
8. Persons with open wounds, excessive sunburn, abrasions that have not healed, or bandages of any kind cannot be allowed in the water.
9. Except during Park District classes, SCUBA gear is not allowed in the pool.
10. No flotation devices may be used in the pool.
11. Family Swim Parents/Guardians must accompany children in the water.
12. Children 8 and under, who are not at least 8" taller than the shallow end must be accompanied by an adult.

A membership provides access to all Lap Swim times at any park that offers Lap Swim across the Chicago Park District. Access to a lap swim session is managed on a first-come-first-served basis. A lap swim membership is required. Lap Swim members must present an ID with their membership pass upon entrance.

More than 15 million gallons of water flow through the pool each day, gushing from the San Solomon Springs. The pool is up to 25 feet deep, covers 1.3 acres, and holds 3.5 million gallons of water. The water temperature stays at 72 to 76 degrees year-round.
Note: Children 12 years or younger must be accompanied by a paying adult age 16 or older. Monthly and annual passes are purchased at any of the year-round pools - Optimist, Millbrook, Pullen, and Buffaloe Road Aquatic Center.
The program's goal is to provide an opportunity to experience competitive swimming in a fun, enjoyable, and relaxed environment. Prerequisite - participants must be able to swim 25 yards unassisted. Find out more about the age requirements, costs, and schedules on our Intra-City Swim Team page.
We are currently seeking lifeguards to staff our pools and aquatic facilities. Lifeguards are currently being hired at $13 per hour, and the City of Raleigh will provide Lifeguard Training for candidates that do not hold a Lifeguarding Certification.

Outdoor Pool Season Passes are available for the first time since 2019. Season passes are digital this year, not a physical card, offering unlimited entry to outdoor pools, and indoor pools, Mon.-Thurs. only, 1-8 p.m., for a specific individual or family. Season passes are valid for the 2023 summer season, May 27-Sept. 4. Season pass holders check in at the pool gate. A photo ID is required to purchase, and a picture will be taken of each pass holder. Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer, and most area public pools are gearing up to open this weekend. Some pools, such as the Heman Park pool in University City and the McNair pool in St. Charles are undergoing repairs and may or may not open this season.

These lifts provide access for anyone who needs help getting into the water. You sit on the lift seat and are then lowered into the pool. Wheelchair users must transfer out of their chair and onto the lift.
Private Pool Parties are back! Pool parties are offered. at Giammona Pool for a three (3) hour rental from 3:00 - 6:00 pm on Saturdays. Pool party rentals are for a maximum of 50 guests and allow for the private access to the pool (between 3:30 - 5:30 pm), classroom and other pool amenities. The Austin Parks and Recreation Aquatic Division operates 45 public aquatic facilities, which includes 7 Regional pools, 3 Community pools, 22 Neighborhood pools, 1 Wading pool, Barton Springs Pool and 11 splash pads. A 25 yard, 6 lane pool with depths of 4 feet to 12 feet. The swimming pool is located at 2040 Dixwell Avenue at Hamden High School. Entrance for pool is located in the rear of the building. The pool is generally available for public usage during weekday mornings, evenings, and Saturday afternoons. Home to the Hamden High School Green Dragons, Hamden Heronettes, and the Hamden-North Haven Swim Teams.
Swim passes: are required for all public swimming. Season passes must be purchased at the Recreation Department. Daily Fees are paid poolside. Proof of residency is required. Passes are good from July 1st through the beginning of August of the following year.
