Hi All,--do I need a google acct to edit contact document? It's Amy Burns at 630-376-6208.
I can ask Walter if he can meet with us at the next regularly scheduled meeting in Dec. Would that work? If he can't make that, I'll let you know and we'll go from there. I was actually under the impression that downtown was where the Lombard Coop was going to be for sure. But I can see a case for something on/near Roosevelt as a huge artery.. Sure would be nice to be downtown though! But I can see parking being an issue if we want expansion ability.
The best way to do a successful business plan is to copy someone else's succesful business plan :)-- obviously not word for word but in terms of the info provided. I have reviewed but not written business plans; my work was more focused on using research to entice businesses to Tucson. Anyhow, getting a copy of a successful coop's plan will be very, very helpful. There is also small business plan help at College of DuPage; this is a very comprehensive booklet of the checklist we sort of need. You probably already have it but just in case: http://www.cod.edu/business_resources/entrepreneurship/pdf/starting_your_business_in_illinois.pdf

Hi Everyone,
Did you see this page as well? http://www.weaversway.coop/index.php?page=how_to_start_a_food_co_op
They have some seed/sprout grants to help the process along as well, you are probably already aware.
It might be helpful at the next meeting to break up the business plan task in to some components as outlined in one of the models and have individuals brainstorm ideas for that section. I was looking at page 41 of this document http://www.cgin.coop/files/manual.pdf. It's a "table of contents" for a food coop business plan. I think the finance committee will do #6, maybe we could just start with #1 and create a working document?
I hope Jerry is feeling better :(. Amy |
