Hello

I have a little project at work that I thought I would ask the group for advice with.

I have an ubuntu clonezilla server setup to clone windows xp boxes in our labs. Currently the clonezilla box has the clone images on it and there is no back up.
I have a buffalo terastation with samba sharing that i can use for back ups. What I want to do is run a cron job or something similar so that the server dumps
my clone images over to the buffalo say one a week. Now I would consider myself a novice command line kinda guy but I am not afraid to get my hands dirty
and I have been running this server all on the command line so far and everything is working well. What I have never done is setup a cron job or any sorta
automated process like this.

Any links to guides or help with a script would be very cool.

Thanks,

Matt W

thoughts on using something like rsync vs dumping the whole files every week?  No sense copying data that hasn't changed (unless its changing fairly frequently).

As far as cron job itself goes its pretty straightforward to setup, I can probably help you out there if no one jumps in first.

Ya I was looking at rsync and that looks like the way to go. Just
never used it before. I will look
at it a bit more.

Although it really takes away from the whole concept of learning a
Linux system "the hard way" (from the command line), at work - just to
keep things simple - we use Webmin (http://www.webmin.com) on
practically all of our servers.
It provides a nice, uniform look-and-feel for administering our
servers.

Is there a rsync module for webmin?

Even were there not an rsync module for Webmin, it has this nifty
little module that lets you write your own "commands" (and
subsequently schedule them) - in which case, you would create your
custom command to run rsync with the necessary arguments.
